For sale here is a Jim Hidy hollow-built bamboo rod - 8'3" 2/2 4wt. The rod remains in near mint condition.

Beautiful, moderately tempered cane. Amber wraps, double-wrapped at the guides with fine black tipping at the winding check, male ferrules, and tip-tops. The ferrules are wrapped in black. Blued hardware throughout. Agate stripping guide. Ring hook keeper. The full wells grip measures 6 1/4" in length. Elegant nickel silver cap and ring reel seat over a gorgeous mortised wood spacer. The truncated Swiss-style ferrules have a perfectly snug fit. Overall medium fast action and flexes well into the butt section. Suitable for all types of fly fishing -- dries, wets, and small streamers. Lastly, the length makes for excellent mending and roll casts. All sections are full length and straight. Includes the original bag and tube with fine brass fittings.

Jim's rods are hand planed, hollow built into the tips, and exhibit some of the best cane work of any rod being made today. His tapers have been tested and tweaked over the years as he states, "in laboratory conditions" at the casting ponds of the Golden Gate Angling and Casting Club. He hand turns his high-quality hardware fittings. His tapers and resulting rod actions are amongst the most coveted by fishermen worldwide.

Mr. Hidy's rods are rarely seen on the secondary market. Ordering a new rod entails a multi-year wait time, so don't let this one get away!
