For sale here is a classic Edward Vom Hofe Model 423 "Restigouche" Salmon fly reel in excellent overall condition. Size 3/0 - 3 5/8" diameter, spool width of 1 7/16" and weighs 11 1/4 oz. This reel carries the 1896 patent on the oil cap. German silver protective bands and a pair of double roller bars. The reel has a strong and smooth adjustable drag and click. This reel has the seven detent arrowhead pointer drag feature with red dot indicators.The nickel silver reel foot is full length, unmolested, and includes a 3/0 marking on it and serial number P481 dating the reel to 1923. There is a very slight hairline crack in the hard rubber between the two pillar screws on the headplate. Some of the screws also show some marks from ill-fitting screwdrivers over the years, although all of the screws are removable as-is. The reelcomes with what appears to be its original 3/0 marked leather case with a broken and detached strap and buckle.
This seems to be the most popular size classic EVH reel for salmon and steelhead fishermen these days, so don't let this one get away!

- We ship at cost to the buyer and in the majority of cases do so via UPS with full insurance and signature. There are cheaper options but our experience has been that you get what you pay for and that it's not worth taking risks when shipping what are often one-of-a-kind items. Due to the importance of packing items carefully please allow up to two weeks for arrival (depending on how busy we are) though we certainly do our best to get items to you as expeditiously as possible.

- Unless otherwise noted, all items come with a 3-day inspection period during which they can be returned to us for a full refund (provided that they are in the same condition in which they left our shop). Return shipping is the responsibility of the buyer. If an item is returned, we will issue a refund within 10 days upon receipt.
