Dingley Fly Reel 3" - Perfect Style

For sale here is a gorgeous old Dingley-made Perfect from the early 1920's. This 3 inch reel, the "Lennox" model, is a super tight, very fishable reel and appears in the "D is for Dingley" book on page 98. It has the not-often-seen caliper check and no ball bearings (a "eunuch" model). It comes with a strap-over tensioner (another feature hard to find on Dingley reels). which works perfectly, gradually increasing the spring tension throughout its adjustment range. The reel has a slightly filed original brass foot and a replacement handle at some point in its long life, or at least a different original handle placement, as can be seen on the back of the winding plate in the photos. If you are wondering where the "D" stamp is, the reel was made by WH Dingley for Walker Bampton, a long-time association that in most cases does not include the famous "D" stamp on the frame.
The reel foot measures 2.35 inches and the reel weighs a little under 7 ounces. A classic and very rarely seen reel made by the master, and very fishable to this day. This reel will look great with any of your 4-5 weight bamboo rods.

- We ship at cost to the buyer and in the majority of cases do so via UPS with full insurance and signature. There are cheaper options but our experience has been that you get what you pay for and that it's not worth taking risks when shipping what are often one-of-a-kind items. Your shipping estimate will be calculated at checkout and if you have any questions please contact us. Please note the buyers are responsible for any applicable import duties or fees that may levied. Due to the importance of packing items carefully please allow up to two weeks for arrival (depending on how busy we are) though we certainly do our best to get items to you as expeditiously as possible.

- Unless otherwise noted, all items come with a 3-day inspection period during which they can be returned to us for a full refund (provided that they are in the same condition in which they left our shop). Return shipping is the responsibility of the buyer. If an item is returned, we will issue a refund within 10 days upon receipt. Refunds will be either administered by providing a check or, when possible, by canceling a credit card purchase.
