Everett Garrison Model 206E Bamboo Rod 7'6" 2/2 #4

VFT2032

For sale here is a scarce Everett Garrison Model 206E bamboo fly rod. 7 1/2 feet, two sections with two tips. Serial no. H-76-1, the rod was made in 1964. The rod is in excellent condition, all sections are full length and straight. No repairs have been made and none are necessary.

Mark Canfield, the most respected Garrison restorationist alive today, gave the rod a tune-up, filling in some varnish chips and replacing some of the wraps. One of the snake guides is a replacement as well. Mark's replacement wraps match the others perfectly and his varnish touch-ups were made using the correct vintage Valentine's Super Valspar Marine varnish.

The rod excels with a DT5 for most who have cast it (many of the GGACC guys I was recently with on the Henry's Fork). A couple of rodmakers who have cast it liked it best with a DT4.

The rod features classic Garrison, honey colored cane with transparent wraps. Perfectly bookmatched tips! Chestnut brown thread at the ferrules and winding check. The tips have different shades of tan/brown wraps at the ferrules and tip tops, done particularly for a differentiating or special situation/client (which this individual/family certainly appears to have been). Bright guides. The script on the butt section as well as on the tips remains clean and bold. The cigar grip is in fantastic shape for its age, only moderately soiled and appears to have not been cleaned as it's free of ridging. Characteristic Garrison, nickel silver cap and ring reel seat with a cork spacer. There is an indentation and a bit of discoloration on the spacer from years of use with the sliding ring. The Super-Z brand ferrules are size 12/64 and the fit is perfect. The guides are double-wrapped in the fashion of an early Winston, a special request Mr. Garrison allowed on occasion, as long as it didn't include any 'tipping'! The rod weighs 3.60 oz. Wonderful medium fast action, light and well balanced in the hand.

The rod includes an original hooded rod bag and came with no tube. Mike Clark graciously made me a replacement tube from John Bradford's stock of anodized aluminum tubes from his estate.

This rod was the companion of this rod we recently sold, both coming from the same family in Germany.
