For sale here is a Paul H. Young SPECIAL DELUXE - 9' 2/2.The "Deluxe" version of the late 1940s Special model had the owner's name hand-inked by Paul on the butt section.The original owner's name, Gordon Robinson, is hand-inked on one flat, and 9' 5 1/2 oz. HCH is hand-inked on the adjacent flat. HCH is equivalent to a 7 weight line.The rod weighs 6 oz. on my scale. Varnished, flamed cane, split by Paul Young and not an earlier blank from another production rod company. Pocketed butt cap with "Detroit" stamp, and screwlock ring with knurling on upper edge, over cork. Oxidized hardware. Nickel silver ferrules are size 16/64 and the ferrule fit is excellent. Half Wells grip is in fine shape, just soiled which I can clean up upon request. Decorative brown spiral wraps. No hookkeeper. No issues with the cane, wraps or varnish. One guide wrap nearest the ferrule on the butt section has been redone and appears darker in color. Each rod section is full length and arrow-straight. The length is exactly nine feet. Overall the rod is in excellent plus condition.

- We ship at cost to the buyer and in the majority of cases do so via UPS with full insurance and signature. There are cheaper options but our experience has been that you get what you pay for and that it's not worth taking risks when shipping what are often one-of-a-kind items. Your shipping estimate will be calculated at checkout and if you have any questions please contact us. Please note the buyers are responsible for any applicable import duties or fees that may levied. Due to the importance of packing items carefully please allow up to two weeks for arrival (depending on how busy we are) though we certainly do our best to get items to you as expeditiously as possible.

Other Terms
- Unless otherwise noted, all items come with a 3-day inspection period during which they can be returned to us for a full refund (provided that they are in the same condition in which they left our shop). Return shipping is the responsibility of the buyer. If an item is returned, we will issue a refund within 10 days upon receipt. Refunds will be either administered by providing a check or, when possible, by canceling a credit card purchase.
