For sale here is an outstanding Paul H. Young Martha Marie bamboo rod. Serial #3368. 7'6 2/2 5wt. The rod is in excellent condition. Richly flamed cane. The rod was made solely by Paul H. Young and delivered in March 1958. All cork reel seat with dual black-anodized aluminum rings. Oxidized hardware and Super-Z ferrules. Cigar grip with thumb indentation. The original satin bag is in good condition but as with many of these Paul Young supplied satin bags, there is a hole at the bottom of the bag, covered in tape to secure the contents. The original Champion-style tube is in great shape. The butt section is inked in PHY's handwriting on three flats. First flat: Dr. J. Mimura - Mar. '58 Second flat: M.M.Y. Model - 7 1/2' - 3.28 oz. H.D.H. Third flat: Paul H. Young Co. - Detroit - Maker. Color preserver appears to have been used on the wraps, as was intermittently experimented with at the PHY shop. On either side of many of the guide wraps, the varnish appears to have worn off of the cane surface. All of the guides remain secure.
If you've been looking for a totally original Martha Marie in a relatively lightweight format, this one is definitely for you!
