Al Talbot was an expert machinist and is responsible for designing and building the milling machine that the Winston Rod Company has used since the late 1960's. He also built one for Gary Howells as well as his heat-treating oven, taper forms and other equipment. In return, Gary Howells taught Talbot how to build a bamboo rod. In the 1980's, Talbot also introduced the polyvinyl glue that Winston and Sweetgrass continue to use in making their rods. (Credit - Joe Bellart's book on Howells)
Talbot rods are very hard to come by and are treasured by those who own them. Don't miss out on this chance to be a proud owner of a one-piece Al Talbot rod!
