For sale here is an impregnated Orvis "Mitey Mite" -- 5' 4wt 2/1 bamboo rod. Serial no. 59372. Made in 1970. The rod is in excellent original condition, made with only one tip. Both sections are full length and straight. The rod features dark tempered cane characteristic of older Orvis rods. Dark amber wraps. Bright guides. The script on the rod remains clean and bold, though there is a small amount of wear from age and honest use. Petite, 4" cigar grip with a rather slender nose is soiled but void of any other defect. Dual aluminum sliding band reel seat with a mortised cork spacer. There is a small chip in the cork near the aluminum buttcap. The ferrules are size 10/64, the fit is excellent. The rod weighs a very light 1.65 oz. Though the rod is rated for a 5wt (HEG), a line size down is best with these Orvis rods. The action is quite fast and with a good deal of backbone for its size. A terrific rod for native east coast brookies, high mountain cutthroats, or any situation where conditions are tight and casting space is in short supply. The rod includes original grey bag and original tube with blue and gold foil label. There is a small dent in the tube, but nothing to cause concern. Don't miss out on this specialist rod that could find a place in just about every fly fisherman's quiver.

- We ship at cost to the buyer and in the majority of cases do so via UPS with full insurance and signature. There are cheaper options but our experience has been that you get what you pay for and that it's not worth taking risks when shipping what are often one-of-a-kind items. Due to the importance of packing items carefully please allow up to two weeks for arrival (depending on how busy we are) though we certainly do our best to get items to you as expeditiously as possible.

- Unless otherwise noted, all items come with a 3-day inspection period during which they can be returned to us for a full refund (provided that they are in the same condition in which they left our shop). Return shipping is the responsibility of the buyer. If an item is returned, we will issue a refund within 10 days upon receipt. Refunds will be either administered by providing a check or, when possible, by canceling a credit card purchase.
