For sale here is an impregnated Orvis Madison 8' 6-7wt bamboo rod with a labeled weight of 4 3/8 oz. Two sections with one tip. Serial #71705, made in 1973. The rod is in excellent original condition. All sections are full length and straight. Moderately dark browntone, tempered cane that highlights the grain and nodes of the rod. Chestnut brown wraps characteristic of Orvis rods. A few of the wraps could use some attention at some point in the future. The wrap on the first guide up from the ferrule on the tip section has began to crack and fray and would benefit from being re-wrapped. Bright guides. Script on the butt is fully intact. Cigar-style grip with a slender nose 6 1/2" in length. The grip is soiled but in otherwise great shape. Aluminum down-locking reel seat with a fine varnished wood spacer. The blued ferrules are size 13/64 and the fit is nice and tight as it should be. The actual weight on our digital scale is 4 1/2 oz. The rod is labeled as an 8wt (GBF), but a line size down is usually best with Orvis rods. With this rod, I would even venture to say a 6wt would be quite appropriate. The action is medium. Original green bag, and aluminum tube with green foil label are included with the rod. An excellent original do-all Orvis rod.

- We ship at cost to the buyer and in the majority of cases do so via UPS with full insurance and signature. There are cheaper options but our experience has been that you get what you pay for and that it's not worth taking risks when shipping what are often one-of-a-kind items. Your shipping estimate will be calculated at checkout and if you have any questions please contact us. Please note the buyers are responsible for any applicable import duties or fees that may levied. Due to the importance of packing items carefully please allow up to two weeks for arrival (depending on how busy we are) though we certainly do our best to get items to you as expeditiously as possible.

Other Terms
- Unless otherwise noted, all items come with a 3-day inspection period during which they can be returned to us for a full refund (provided that they are in the same condition in which they left our shop). Return shipping is the responsibility of the buyer. If an item is returned, we will issue a refund within 10 days upon receipt. Refunds will be either administered by providing a check or, when possible, by canceling a credit card purchase.
