For sale here is a possibly unique offering from the bench of the late Tom Maxwell. Six feet in length for a three weight line. Two sections with two tips. Top Hat logo inked above the winding check as well as the "TLM" initials. The rod is in unfished condition with protective paper still covering the grip. The cane is tempered to beautiful pumpkin tone. Clear wraps with dark oxblood tipping. The wraps at the ferrules are oxblood with black tipping. Bronzed guides. Tips are marked one and two. Attractive, generously swelled butt section. Brass, ring hook-keeper. Sculpted, bright nickel silver winding check. Petite, cigar-style grip 4 1/2" in length. The cap and ring reel seat is made entirely of nickel silver, making for a handsome and classic appearance. It is also lightly tarnished from age which adds to this effect. The Swiss-style ferrules are size 10/64, the fit is nice and tight as it should be. The rod has a wonderful medium-fast action and weighs 2.80 oz. The rod was acquired without a bag and tube, but an oversized bag and un-original tube are included with the sale.
This rod comes from the estate of Charlie Robinson from Pennsylvania, who apprenticed under Tom Maxwell late in Tom's life and ended up with many rods from Tom's personal collection. This sale will include a letter of provenance from the Robinson family.
All reasonable offers will be considered. Given Maxwell's place in history and given the unfished condition of the rod, we feel its historical value is substantial.

- We ship at cost to the buyer and in the majority of cases do so via UPS with full insurance and signature. There are cheaper options but our experience has been that you get what you pay for and that it's not worth taking risks when shipping what are often one-of-a-kind items. Your shipping estimate will be calculated at checkout and if you have any questions please contact us. Please note the buyers are responsible for any applicable import duties or fees that may levied. Due to the importance of packing items carefully please allow up to two weeks for arrival (depending on how busy we are) though we certainly do our best to get items to you as expeditiously as possible.

Other Terms
- Unless otherwise noted, all items come with a 3-day inspection period during which they can be returned to us for a full refund (provided that they are in the same condition in which they left our shop). Return shipping is the responsibility of the buyer. If an item is returned, we will issue a refund within 10 days upon receipt. Refunds will be either administered by providing a check or, when possible, by canceling a credit card purchase.
