For sale here is a pre-fire H.L. Leonard Model 40 Fairy Catskill -- 8' 3/2 4wt bamboo rod. The rod is in excellent+ refinished condition. All sections are full length and straight. No repairs are evident.
The rod features red wraps and full intermediates. Just above the winding check a there is a handsome 3-1-10-1-3 banding pattern. Darkly oxidized guides (from a later era). Ring hook keeper. Sculpted nickel silver winding check. A gradually swelled butt. Petite cigar grip 4 5/8" in length. The grip is only lightly soiled and free of any ridging, hook gouges, etc. Bright nickel silver cap and ring reel seat with a mortised butternut spacer. The spacer has a light coat of varnish over it. The ferrules are size 10/64 and 14/64 with a very good fit. The action is classic medium. The rod weighs 3 3/4 oz. Included is what appears to be the original bag and tube.
Certainly a very handsome Leonard rod and one that deserves time on the water!

- We ship at cost to the buyer and in the majority of cases do so via UPS with full insurance and signature. There are cheaper options but our experience has been that you get what you pay for and that it's not worth taking risks when shipping what are often one-of-a-kind items. Due to the importance of packing items carefully please allow up to two weeks for arrival (depending on how busy we are) though we certainly do our best to get items to you as expeditiously as possible.

- Unless otherwise noted, all items come with a 3-day inspection period during which they can be returned to us for a full refund (provided that they are in the same condition in which they left our shop). Return shipping is the responsibility of the buyer. If an item is returned, we will issue a refund within 10 days upon receipt. Refunds will be either administered by providing a check or, when possible, by canceling a credit card purchase.
