For sale here is a pre-fire H.L. Leonard Model 87 -- 9'6" 3/2 Special Tournament Dry Fly Salmon rod. The rod is in excellent refinished condition. All sections are full length with a slight set in the mid section and a minor set in one of the tip sections.
The rod features burgundy wraps with black tipping at the winding check and male ferrules. The rod has been fitted with slightly larger guides to accommodate modern lines. Handsomely swelled butt. Nickel silver winding check. Cigar grip 6" in length with moderate soiling and light ridging throughout. Bright nickel silver screw-lock reel seat that reads "Special Tournament" on the backside of the spacer. Next to the stamping on the butt cap is the number "5". The seat functions as it should and is free of damage. The removable nickel silver butt cap features a bull's eye pattern with a "3" in the middle. The fighting butt is 4 3/4" in length with soiling comparable to the grip. The hard rubber butt remains in like new condition.
The ferrules are size 13/64 and 20/64 with a great fit. The rod weighs 8.30 oz. without the fighting butt. Powerful medium-fast action. The rod includes the original bag, tip tube with bag, and a heavy canvas bag with stiffening dowel that it all packs into.

- We ship at cost to the buyer and in the majority of cases do so via UPS with full insurance and signature. There are cheaper options but our experience has been that you get what you pay for and that it's not worth taking risks when shipping what are often one-of-a-kind items. Your shipping estimate will be calculated at checkout and if you have any questions please contact us. Please note the buyers are responsible for any applicable import duties or fees that may levied. Due to the importance of packing items carefully please allow up to two weeks for arrival (depending on how busy we are) though we certainly do our best to get items to you as expeditiously as possible.

- Unless otherwise noted, all items come with a 3-day inspection period during which they can be returned to us for a full refund (provided that they are in the same condition in which they left our shop). Return shipping is the responsibility of the buyer. If an item is returned, we will issue a refund within 10 days upon receipt. Refunds will be either administered by providing a check or, when possible, by canceling a credit card purchase.
