For sale here is an H.L. Leonard Model 40H bamboo rod -- 8' 2/2 5-6wt. Serial no. 731. Made in the early 1970s. The rod is in excellent+ original condition. All sections are full length and straight.
Straw colored cane finish with transparent burgundy wraps. Deeply blued guides. Bronzed ring hook keeper. Cigar grip 6" in length with moderate soiling. Aluminum down-locking reel seat over a butternut spacer with a nickel silver butt cap. Bull's eye pattern on the bottom of the butt cap. The ferrules are size 13/64 with an excellent fit. The rod weighs 4.25 oz. Swift medium fast action with a good bit of power thanks in part to the swelled butt. A great trout rod that can handle everything from beaded nymphs to small dries though it will really shine at dry-fly fishing. Certainly faster than most Leonard rods. Includes original tan bag with dowel stiffener and the original tube with brass fittings. The tube was incorrectly labeled as a model 66H by the previous owner.
