Harada Rod 8' 3/1 5wt Hollowbuilt Madake Cane

VFT6768

For sale here is a hollow-built bamboo rod handcrafted in Japan by Katsumi Harada - 8 feet, 3/1 for a 5 weight line. The rod is constructed from madake cane, creating a light and medium progressive action, aided by his use of a carbon spigot ferrule system, allowing the rod taper to flex consistently through the ferrule sections. Harada-san points out that madake cane has very fine fibers, resulting in a slower action, yet not weak. The fine fibers also result in blanks with a very smooth and beautiful surface. The rod also features anicely-tapered wood reel seat spacer which the Japanese call "Karin" (a type of rosewood). Light brown silk wraps with gold edges. The rod weighs 3 7/8 oz and is built using a 3x3 side-by-side node pattern. The spar urethane varnish is very exquisite. Comes with very nice custom rod bag and no tube. Simply a wonderful rod -- you will not be disappointed!
