Graywolf / Scott Rod Co. - 7' 3wt Fiberglass Fly Rod

For sale here is a Graywolf (Shane Gray) / Scott Rod Co. - 7' 3wt 2 pc. fiberglass fly rod. Serial no. 611-28. The rod is in excellent+ condition. The blank is a vintage Scott fiberglass rod from the early to mid 1980's, quite the find. The blank is a dark brown color and is unsanded, characteristic of Scott rods. The wraps are a dark moss green with yellow tipping at the winding check, signature guide, and ferrules. Bright guides. Internal spigot ferrules, black, hand marked witness marks for easy set-up. The sections fit together nicely as they should with a 1/4" gap to allow for wear with use. Fine, turned, bright nickel silver checks. Slender western-style grip with very light soiling. The grip is free of any other defects. Up-locking, nickel silver, sliding band reel seat with a handsome mortised tiger maple spacer. There is a bit of scuffing on the bottom of the buttcap. There are also a few light scratches in the varnish on the tip section just below the tip-top. The rod weighs 2.70 oz. The action is quite smooth and medium-fast and with a good deal of backbone. A terrific small stream dry-fly rod. Though rated for a 3wt, a 4wt wouldn't seem to be out of the question. Includes original Greywolf rod bag and fine tube with brass fittings and label. Don't miss out on this vintage Scott Rod Co. classic finished by Shane Gray. Shane is turning out some of the best looking custom glass rods around.
