For sale here we have a "Fye Box" chest fly box. The "Fye Box" was a first of its kind hanging chest fly box originally designed in 1951 and pioneered the way for the Richardson chest fly box. The design is quite clever yet simple. The box is in excellent+ condition. All of the clasps and hinges are in fine working order. The aluminum is free of dents and major scratches. The clasps are made of brass and are also in very nice condition. The canvas straps are also in excellent shape, free of fraying, tears, or stains. The box measures 6 1/4" X 5 1/2" X 3" and is comprised of three fold down trays, each independent of the other. The top tray is 1 1/2" deep with 16 compartments. The dividers are made of the same aluminum as the rest of the box. The second tray is 3/4" deep also with 16 compartments. The third tray is also 3/4" deep with an accordion style leader pouch on the lid. The pouch contains three slots, there are 7 new old stock leaders in the slots. In the bottom shelf are three layers of white felt for drying flies and leaders. The felt is not attached to the box and could be removed if the owner wished to use the space for something else. The box could easily hold hundreds of flies comfortably as well as floatant, leaders, hemostats, nippers, etc.
