Farlow's of London - Leather Tackle Case

For sale here is a leather tackle case made by C. Farlow & Co. Ltd of London in the late teens / early 20's of the 1900's.
This lovely leather case has solid brass fittings with two wrap-around straps incorporating a strong handle. The interior is lined in green baize and fitted with a lift-out tray with the base of the case having three compartments. The lid is embossed with the initials T.P.P. and has "C.Farlow & Co Ltd. 10, Charles St., St James Square, S.W." impressed above the brass lock.
The case does have the usual scuffs, marks and scratches that you would associate with many years of use. The leather has split along the hinge between the lid and back with the exception of the a piece underneath one strap and it has been re-inforced under the other strap with a wire loop that is hidden from view. This repair is not noticeable on the exterior. In addition, both of the external corners at the front have been repaired with a few additional stitches that are hardly noticeable and similar in color to the original stitching.
The lock works very well (no key however) and the straps and handle are strong and sturdy. The internal tray is present and its handles are well attached.
In conclusion, this is a lovely piece of vintage fishing equipment and would be a great addition to a fishing collection. It also displays very nicely.
The case measures 15 inches by 10 1/2 inches and is 8 inches deep.

There are cheaper options but our experience has been that you get what you pay for and that it's not worth taking risks when shipping what are often one-of-a-kind items. Due to the importance of packing items carefully please allow up to two weeks for arrival (depending on how busy we are) though we certainly do our best to get items to you as expeditiously as possible.

- Unless otherwise noted, all items come with a 3-day inspection period during which they can be returned to us for a full refund (provided that they are in the same condition in which they left our shop). Return shipping is the responsibility of the buyer. If an item is returned, we will issue a refund within 10 days upon receipt. Refunds will be either administered by providing a check or, when possible, by canceling a credit card purchase.
