For sale here is an impregnated Orvis "Battenkill" 7'6" 2/2 5wt bamboo rod with a listed weight of 3 7/8 oz. Serial #73719. Made in 1974. The rod is in excellent original+ original condition with one exception. A guide on one of the tip sections has been replaced, repair work masterfully performed by Mike Clark at South Creek Ltd. All sections are full length and straight.
The rod features moderately dark impregnated cane. Chestnut brown wraps as per usual for Orvis rods. Oxidized guides and ferrules. The script remains clean and bold with the varnish in excellent condition. The cigar grip measures 6" in length with moderate soiling. Bright aluminum down-locking reel seat with a handsome walnut spacer. There is a light scuff on the side of the spacer. The blued step-down ferrules have a perfect fit. The rod weighs 3.90 oz. The action is a great medium-fast dry-fly. A very versatile rod well suited for just about any trout situation. Includes original bag and tube with the label 85% remaining. The Battenkill was one of Orvis' most popular bamboo rods for several decades for a reason, don't miss out on this one for a great price.

- We ship at cost to the buyer and in the majority of cases do so via UPS with full insurance and signature. There are cheaper options but our experience has been that you get what you pay for and that it's not worth taking risks when shipping what are often one-of-a-kind items. Your shipping estimate will be calculated at checkout and if you have any questions please contact us. Please note the buyers are responsible for any applicable import duties or fees that may levied. Due to the importance of packing items carefully please allow up to two weeks for arrival (depending on how busy we are) though we certainly do our best to get items to you as expeditiously as possible.

- Unless otherwise noted, all items come with a 3-day inspection period during which they can be returned to us for a full refund (provided that they are in the same condition in which they left our shop). Return shipping is the responsibility of the buyer. If an item is returned, we will issue a refund within 10 days upon receipt. Refunds will be either administered by providing a check or, when possible, by canceling a credit card purchase.
