VFT480
For sale here is a special one-of-a-kind H.L. Leonard Model 38H bamboo rod from the 1980s. The rod is in excellent original condition showing only light wear. The rod was intended to be 7' though there was a measuring mistake at the Leonard factory and it ended up being 6'10". Not wanting to reject the rod for this issue only, an appropriate tube and bag were made. The rod was sold by William Mills as a "Special" 38H. A letter of provenance from Ted Simroe detailing the origin of the rod will be included.
The rod features light tempered cane with crimson wraps and gold tipping at the winding check and male ferrules. Blued guides and tip-tops. Ring hook keeper. Ever so slightly swelled butt. Petite cigar grip measuring 4 3/4" with moderate soiling and light ridging. Bright nickel silver cap and ring reel seat over a cork spacer. The step-down ferrules have an excellent fit with indented witness marks on the ferrule shoulder. The rod weighs 2.80 oz. The action is medium-fast. Best with a 4 weight line. Includes the original bag with dowel stiffener as well as the original tube with brass fittings.
Don't miss out on this unique version of the 38H!
