Everett Garrison Model 206 Bamboo Rod 7'6" 2/2 #4

VFT1003

For sale here is a scarce Everett Garrison Model 206 bamboo fly rod. 7 1/2 feet, two sections with two tips. Serial no. E-76-1, made in 1961. The rod is in near mint restored condition with one exception. One of the tips was impacted during shipping and there was some resultant splintering of the cane between the last snake guide and the tip-top. Mark Canfield was able to re-assemble this piece-by-piece and place a thin protective wrap over this area. No cane was lost in the repair process. We are also near-certain that Mr. Garrison is the person who restored this rod in the 1970s. All of the hallmarks of his work are evident. More details can be provided upon request.

The rod features classic Garrison, honey colored cane with transparent wraps. Perfectly bookmatched tips! Chestnut brown thread at the ferrules and winding check. Bright guides. The script on the butt section as well as on the tips remains clean and bold. The cigar grip is in near perfect condition, appearing to have not been cleaned as it's free of any ridging whatsoever. Characteristic Garrison, nickel silver cap and ring reel seat with a cork spacer. The Super-Z brand ferrules are size 13/64 and the fit is excellent. The rod weighs 3.40 oz. On the medium side of medium fast action, light and well balanced in the hand, and best with a four-weight line.

The rod includes its original rod bag and ferrule plug but came to me with no tube. Mark graciously sold me a vintage-appropriate brass-capped aluminum tube although it's not a Garrison tube.

As most of you know, it's extremely difficult to locate Garrison rods that haven't been improperly restored. This one, being restored by Garrison himself, is a gem and due to the minor tip repair, this rod is being offered at less than half of what an original Model 206 would sell for.
