Hardy Bougle 3" Fly Reel - Original

VFT4847

For sale here is an original Hardy Bougle fly reel in good, original condition. 3" diameter. Right hand retrieve. Badged inside for retailer VL&D in New York. Circa mid to late 1920s. Full-length and unaltered reel foot. The ivory handle remains in sound and free-spinning condition. The nickel silver rim tension regulator screw works perfectly. Duplicated MKII check with two engageable pawls (the spare pawl is missing). The springs have been shaped slightly but this doesn't affect the out-going tension strength. Mechanically the reel remains in very fishable condition with a bit of spindle/spool movement. No cracks/chips anywhere on the reel. Included with sale is the Hardy D-block leather reel case shown. This case wasn't specifically made for this reel, but it fits it rather well and is worth $200-$250 on its own. Where else can you find a fishable original Bougle for this price? Snag it while you can!
